they hold the carpet downģ.then remove the plastic side step panels. next you are going to have to remove all the plastic covers. Yes i know the van is a mess my mom is the taxi to all her grandkids. fold down the rear seats flat and remove the center seats.you can put them at the end but i took them out of the van. cause turns out that no one had one in stock and i tried my best to patch the fuel pump with a fuel tank patching kit.till the new pump came in. It was really easy took me about 1 hour.but i did it twice. i picked up the complete pump assembly and gasket just under $250 from honda. i guess the plastic fails after 8 years or so. i did find out that this is an ongoing thing from the honda parts guy. so once the fuel pump pressure went up it would leak fuel out onto the top of the tank and leak out the back. turns out the fuel pump had several hair line cracks on the top. Ok honda was nice enough to put an access panel on the floor of the van so you dont need to drop the fuel tank. i know that if you take it leaking fuel they will not let you drive it out of there if the repair bill is expensive.well i had no luck so i decided to take it apart. i didnt want to take it to the dealership. so i went online trying to find out what it could be. it was not pouring out but you could see stains and when you touch it felt a little wet and yes it smelled like gas.it seemed to be coming from the top of the tank. so i crawled under the van found that near the rear of the tank there was fuel leaking. but when i came back into her driveway the smell of raw gas was really strong. she told me that it only happens once she drives it for a bit. not inside the van but on the outside when she would drive it.so i went over the next morning and i could not find anything. My mom called my that her 05 odyssey had an extremely strong smell of gas coming from it. i searched everywhere on the net for info on what might be causing it and there was really no helpful post. Last time we were there, it had zero auto parts shops, one flashing yellow light, one grocery store ( about the size of a beauty shop), and at one time, had a combination bowling alley, steakhouse, and auto repair shop. This is my first post. Her grandmother lives in a city of about 200 people. It might take a while to get parts and repairs, and a towing bill would have to be horrendous. Ah rekkin we kin have one uh them thar doomahickeys here in about three weeks." "Yessir, it's a good thang you broke down here in our big city. I just don't want to get into Cornville, South Dakota, and it be a fuel cut off or something critical like that, and the engine shut down. It doesn't sound like the Honda fuel pump though, and it continues a bit after the engine is running. It reminds me of a fuel pump priming before the engine cranks, or some kind of relay, but I can't tell that it is doing anything. I'm used to my Fords that have the fuel lines, fuel filter, etc on the driver's side, but this was clicking on the passenger side. I thought maybe it was a fuel cut-off, because it is in the rear, near where (I'm guessing) the fuel tank is. If I need to get something fixed, I want to do it now, before we get on the road. fuel cut-off relay, etc), but we have a long vacation trip from Atlanta to the Dakota's to Grandma's house coming up in a month. It doesn't seem to be causing an immediate problem (i.e. It clicks once or twice per second, and continued at least 15-30 seconds. ? The sound is coming from the passenger-side rear quarter panel, behind the interior paneling, maybe half-way between the roof and floor. It is a "clicking" sound, like maybe a solenoid or relay of some kind. We went out, and I opened the back hatch, while she cranked it. When she got home, she said it had happened each time she started the van (going to church, going to grocery store after church, coming home from grocery store). I went to listen, but by the time she came and got me, and we went outside, it had stopped. Yesterday, my wife started the van, and it was making a "clicking" sound from the rear of the van. I searched for this problem, but no one mentioned this one. I just changed the oil, and plan to do the first part of a tranny drain (drain, add three quarts) this evening. I think it has around 120k, and seems to be in decent condition.
